A weekly drama about a group of Homeless people who line up for social services and get touched by a staff of angels with their own dysfunctions to contend with.
There is no place like homeless especially if you visit Agape House Homeless Shelter located on 777 Hope Street in Chicago Illinois. When you arrive, you will meet Mrs. Haberman, who has faithfully ministered for over 20 years to the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs of the Homeless population.
You will meet Miss Jackson, the second in command. Even though she is highly intelligent and has five degrees behind her name, she thinks she knows everything and Mrs. Haberman has to constantly remind her who is really in charge.
Also, you will meet Richard, a gentleman who spends a lot of time arguing with Miss Jackson because they both have Ivy League educations and can speak five languages. Richard had better watch himself because they are monitoring his every step according to his probation.
Speaking of being watched closely, Attorney Mr. Goldstein has a crush on Miss Jackson. However, it's a waste of time because mixed marriages never work. He's Jewish and she's a Born Again Christian.
You'll also meet Jenny, our naïve, 20 year old college student with Italian heritage and gothic makeup, and every body part pierced. We can't understand why she allows her boyfriend to physically abuse her.
And you'll see Davidson Harley a rebel with a probable cause who was sentenced to work in the shelter because his drug habit finally caught up with him.
If you drop in you will also meet Preacher, a gentle, quiet man who is passionate about his faith. The Homeless population in Chicago line up for miles around to taste the elaborate meals he prepares.
For our Hispanic clients social services are available through Alejandro, proud father of five who is an heir to the Spanish throne. He occasionally volunteers his time at the shelter.
If you are ever in the neighborhood, drop in and visit with this ensemble of Homeless people from various cultures, races, and religious traditions. Witness them line up for social services and be touched by a staff of Angels with their own dysfunctions to contend with.
Unto the least of these is our third novel, based on the television series that records the daily thoughts of Ms. Haberman the proprietor of Agape House as she interacts with very entertaining clients.
